Learn about Scotland's rich heritage, the importance of tartan, how to play the bagpipes, and perhaps the most important part of Scotland's inheritance... whisky.

Itinerary

This engaging evening is the perfect introduction to the world of Scotland's favourite creations, kilts, tartan, bagpipes and whisky. You will meet a kiltmaker in his workshop, nestled in the heart of the Edinburgh old town, and as you enjoy a dram of the "water of life" (as whisky is popularly known), you'll learn about the origins of tartan, its importance in Scottish culture, and the introduction and manufacture of kilts.

For a fitting soundtrack, a bagpipe player, himself ex pipe-major of the King's Own Scottish Borders (a regiment of the British army) will give a demonstration of this unique and most Scottish of instruments.

You too can get involved, why don't you try the bagpipes for yourself (they're harder than they look!) and to fully immerse yourself in Scottish culture you'll have a chance to wear a kilt, receiving advice from your own personal kiltmaker.

Whisky Tasting

There is included in this tour an optional whisky tasting, where you can experience three delicious drams of whisky. Under the expert supervision of a whisky specialist, who will teach you the secrets of its complex flavours, you will learn about production, heritage, and the traditions of the different distilleries.
